The Path Foundation was selected to create a master trail plan for the City

Path FoundationDuring its February 2018 regular meeting, the City Council approved a proposal presented by the Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services department that recommended the Path Foundation as the consultant to assist the City with developing a master trail plan.

The Path Foundation is an organization that is specialized in both planning and constructing trail networks.  Most important, the foundation has had numerous success planning and implementing projects around the State of Georgia that include the Silver Comet trail, the Atlanta Beltline, as well as, the Carrollton Greenbelt just to name a few. The approved proposal provides for the creation of a master trail plan, development standards, design guidelines, and implementation strategy guidance.

The master trail plan will further the city's existing commitment to developing a comprehensive trail network.  In 2017, the Parks department completed construction on the city's first trailhead near the Fullerville Soccer Complex.  The project was funded through a Georgia DOT TE grant and lies adjacent to an abandoned rail line, creating an ideal opportunity for a rails to trails project. Additionally, the City committed to a pedestrian underpass and additional bike lanes as part of the Georgia DOT's North Loop bypass project that will further promote connectivity in the City.
